Brief Introduction to Prof. C. L. Philip Chen: C. L. Philip Chen (S’88–M’88–SM’94–F’07) is the Chair Professor and Dean of the College of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology. He is a Fellow of IEEE, AAAS, IAPR, CAA, CAAI, and HKIE; a member of Academia Europaea (AE), and a member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA). He received IEEE Norbert Wiener Award in 2018 for his contribution in systems and cybernetics, and machine learnings, and IEEE Joseph G. Wohl Outstanding Career award, and received two times best transactions paper award from IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems for his papers in 2014 and 2018 and he is a highly cited researcher by Clarivate Analytics from 2018-2023. His current research interests include cybernetics, systems, and computational intelligence.
He was the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, President of IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. Dr. Chen was a recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineers Award from his alma mater, Purdue University (in 1988), after he graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor, MI, USA in 1985.

Brief Introduction to Prof. Minyue Fu: Minyue Fu received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 1982, and Master and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1983 and 1987, respectively. From 1987 to 1989, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Wayne State University, USA. He joined the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 1989 and became a Chair Professor in Electrical Engineering in 2003. He joined the Southern University of Science and Technology in 2023. His current research interests include networked control systems, distributed estimation and control, high-precision control, and reinforcement learning. He has been an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, Automatica and Journal of Optimization and Engineering. He is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of IFAC, Fellow of Engineers Australia, and Fellow of Chinese Association of Automation.

Prof. Shinji Hara

Brief Introduction to Prof. Shinji Hara: Shinji Hara received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, in 1974, 1976, and 1981, respectively. In 1984, he joined the Tokyo Institute of Technology as an Associate Professor and served as a Full Professor for ten years. From 2002 to 2017 he was a Full Professor in the Department of Information Physics and Computing at the University of Tokyo. He is Professor Emeritus of the Tokyo Institute of Technology and the University of Tokyo. His current research interests are in robust control, decentralized cooperative control for large-scale networked dynamical systems, system biology, and glocal control. Dr. Hara has received many awards in control including the George S. Axelby Outstanding Paper Award from the IEEE Control System Society in 2006. He was the President of SICE (Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, Japan) in 2009, a Vice President of the IEEE Control Systems Society in 2009 to 2010, and an IFAC Council member from 2011 to 2017. He is a Fellow of IFAC, IEEE, and SICE.
